The Story
He's the first one through the door. The one who takes the hits so his team doesn't have to. Behind him is safety. In front of him is violence. That's the vanguard's job.
The Shield used to be a regular patrol officer. One night, he responded to a domestic disturbance. The husband had a shotgun. The Shield's partner didn't make it. He took three rounds to the chest—his vest saved him, but just barely.
After that, he requested transfer to SWAT. Specifically, he wanted to be the one who goes through the door first.
The Wound
