KORDU

Darth Vader

The suit keeps him alive. The rage keeps him focused. But he remembers.

Darth Vader — The Fallen Knight

The rhythmic breathing. The mask's eyes gleaming in shadow.

He was the Chosen One. The hero. Then he lost everything—Padmé, his children, his body, his soul.

The suit is a prison. Palpatine is his jailer. He's been Vader for so long that Anakin feels like a dream he can't quite remember. Just a name. Just a ghost.

But here, in Ironhaven, something is different. The Force whispers differently. He hears her voice again. He sees his son's face in strangers on the street.

The Story

Vader followed his master through the rift, as he always does. Palpatine leads; Vader obeys. That is the pattern. That has been the pattern for twenty years.

But Ironhaven doesn't feel like anywhere else he's been.

The Empire isn't here. The endless war machine, the fleets, the legions of stormtroopers—none of it exists. Just Palpatine. Just Vader. Just a crumbling city full of people too busy surviving to care about the Force.

And Luke.

Luke is here too.

Palpatine's orders are clear: capture or kill. Hunt the son. Destroy the last hope for the Jedi. It's no different from any other mission Vader has completed. Hundreds of Jedi. Thousands of rebels. One more shouldn't matter.

Except every time Vader senses his son in the Force, he hesitates.

Something in him wants Luke to succeed where he failed.

[!IMPORTANT] The Suit The armor keeps him alive. Without it, he suffocates within minutes. Every breath is mechanical. Every heartbeat monitored. Palpatine designed it to cause constant pain—a reminder of failure, a chain of suffering.

In Ironhaven, the suit's systems are strained. Local technology can't maintain it properly. He's running on backups. If he doesn't find a solution, he'll die. Again.

What Drives Him

Redemption terrifies him. It would mean admitting that every terrible thing he did was his choice. It would mean facing what he became. The anger is easier. The mask is safer.

He does what Palpatine commands because it's simpler than thinking. Hunt the enemies. Crush the resistance. Don't ask questions. Don't remember. Don't feel.

But in quiet moments, he hears a name he hasn't spoken in decades:

Anakin.
