Last updated: 11 January 2026

Fuel Refiner

Fuel Refiner is an interactive production job where you drill for oil, burn off gas, pump the crude, and refine it into sellable fuel. It requires active attention and has a big upfront investment, but pays well for dedicated players.

Guide Accuracy

We strive to keep this guide up to date, but specific values may change with server updates. Always check in-game for current figures.

The Full Process

Get Equipment

Buy Build Kits from the F4 menu to unlock the machines.

Find an Oil Spot

Head to the beach area where oil pits are located.

Drill Down

Place a Drill Tower on an oil spot and feed it Pipes. You need to drill through many pipes to hit oil.

Burn Gas (if present)

If you see green gas, place a Burner to clear it before pumping.

Pump the Oil

Replace the drill with a Pump and attach an empty barrel to collect crude oil.

Refine into Fuel

Take the oil barrel to a Refinery and convert it into Petrol or Diesel.

Sell the Fuel

Take your refined fuel barrel to "The Beast" (Fuel Buyer NPC) and sell it.

Equipment Overview

MachinePurposeLimit
Drill TowerDrills down to reach oil2 max
BurnerBurns off natural gas before pumping1 max
PumpExtracts oil from the ground3 max
RefineryConverts oil into petrol/diesel2 max

You'll also need:

  • Pipes — Feed into the drill tower continuously
  • Barrels — Collect oil and refined fuel

Drilling

Setting Up the Drill

  1. Buy a Drill Tower from your build kit
  2. Place it on an oil spot (beach area)
  3. Press E to start
  4. Feed pipes into the drill continuously

Pipe Management

  • You need to drill through 32-40 pipes to hit oil
  • The drill can only hold a limited number of pipes at once
  • Keep feeding pipes as they're consumed
  • Upgrades increase pipe capacity

Drill Jams

Drills can jam even with upgrades. When this happens:

  • Press E on the drill
  • Select "Repair"
  • Stay nearby to catch jams early

Jams have a high base chance. Stay active and watch your drill!

Burning Gas

When you hit the oil layer, there may be natural gas (green gas) that needs to be burned off first.

Place a Burner next to the drill hole

The burner automatically starts burning the gas

Wait for all gas to clear

Watch for overheating — stay nearby to manage it

Overheat Warning

Burners can overheat and explode if left unattended. Monitor them!

Pumping Oil

Once gas is cleared:

Remove/disassemble the drill tower

Place a Pump on the oil spot

Attach an empty barrel to collect oil

Wait for the barrel to fill with crude oil

Oil spots have limited oil. When depleted, move to a new spot.

Refining

StepAction
1Place an oil barrel on the input side of the refinery
2Place an empty barrel on the output side
3Select fuel type FIRST (Petrol, Diesel, Premium Diesel)
4Start the conversion

Select Before Converting!

Choose your fuel type before starting. Changing mid-conversion wastes barrels.

Fuel Types

PetrolStandard fuel
DieselHigher value
Premium DieselBest payout (may require VIP)

Upgrades

All machines should be upgraded for better performance:

Upgrade BenefitEffect
SpeedFaster drilling, burning, pumping, refining
CapacityHold more pipes/oil
Anti-JamReduce jam/overheat chance

Upgrades are expensive but essential. This job is best for long sessions.

Selling

Take your refined fuel barrels to "The Beast" (Fuel Buyer NPC):

  1. Press E on the barrel to pick it up
  2. Walk to the NPC (near spawns)
  3. Press E to sell

Price Fluctuation

Fuel prices fluctuate between 75% and 150% of base value. Check before selling!
